Kristen Lambert is an Educational Account Executive for Hemisphere Educational Travel.
What is your favorite part about your job?
I love planning fun and educational tours for my groups. I work with our specialty destinations, so it gives me the opportunity to research an area or place that we may not have had groups visit before.
Where is your favorite destination?
My favorite destination that I have travelled to so far is Cuba. It is unlike any other place I have visited. The people, the music, the dancing, the CARS ... it is almost like being in the 50s. Such a unique place that I hope to visit again in the future.
What’s your most treasured travel memory, or the best thing you’ve learned while traveling?
I worked as a Cruise Director for 3.5 years before I started with Hemisphere Travel. I absolutely love being on the water, and I think just travelling to each destination by ship is an experience I could never duplicate. One thing that I will always take with me is to appreciate the people you are with, and to live in the moment. Sometimes it’s not where you are but who you’re with.
What is the best thing you have eaten while traveling?
I always try the local cuisine wherever I’m at. A few treats that stick out would be the oysters on Prince Edward Island, the fudge on Mackinac Island, and the fresh lobster in Bar Harbor (Bah-Habba), Maine!
If you were stranded in an airport, what three things would you want with you?
Cell phone charger, headphones, and comfy sweatpants/sweatshirt.
What’s one thing you would recommend every student group do while traveling?
Don’t look at everything through your phone. Take a lot of pictures but put it down when there are moments that pictures don’t do justice.
What destination on your bucket list do you most want to visit?
There are too many to count! I am planning on visiting Iceland and Portugal this fall, but after that I think Ireland will be at the top of the list.
What’s your favorite activity while traveling, or something you’ve always wanted to try?
I love riding my bike wherever I am. It’s always fun to stop and wander into a cute shop and buy something from the locals!
What do you love about travel?
I love meeting new people and trying new food! It’s a wonderful feeling of relaxing and taking everything all in for the first time. You find a part of yourself that maybe you never met, and you get to take that with you on the next adventure.
