Heidi Jones has worked with Hemisphere Educational Travel for more than 30 years. As the company’s International Account Executive, she works with groups traveling around the world.
What is your favorite part about your job?
I love developing new itineraries. It gives me an opportunity to research and try to organize a few things that set us apart from other tour companies.
Where is your favorite destination?
Europe—there are so many different areas to explore!
What is the best thing you’ve learned while traveling?
I like learning about different foods, customs and variations in languages.
What’s your most prized travel souvenir?
A carved wooden tusk from South Africa.
If you were stranded in an airport, what three things would you want with you?
- My husband.
- A good book.
- Extra money.
If you could run into anyone famous—fictional or nonfictional, historical or mythical—during travel, whom would you want to run into?
Catherine of Aquitaine, 1122 – 1204, was one of the wealthiest and most powerful women of her time. She was married to two kings—France and England—and was one of the leaders of the Second Crusade.
During her last years, however, she was imprisoned by King Henry II, as he wanted to marry someone younger and she wouldn’t give him a divorce.
What is your favorite mode of transportation?
Car—it enables us to travel the backroads of each country.
What destination on your bucket list do you most want to visit, and why?
I’m ready to venture to the Far East.
What’s your favorite activity while traveling?
Comparing the different architectural styles from the areas.
What do you love about travel?
I’m always open to meet new people, try different foods and drink, and experience a new culture!
