7 Things to Do in St. Louis

Gateway City is more than a doorway to the West. From national monuments to quirky contraptions, St. Louis, Missouri, is an opportunity for students to explore art, history, science and more.

1. Get a bird’s-eye view.
No trip to St. Louis is complete without a ride to the top of the famous Gateway Arch. At 630 feet, the stainless-steel structure is the United States’ tallest man-made monument. Stop by the Jefferson National Expansion Memorial to get a glimpse of where Lewis and Clark set out on their historic expedition.

2. Explore a unique playground.
The City Museum combines art, science and history, in a recess of caves, slides and climbing contrivances made from recycled and found objects.

3. Discover interactive science lessons.
The Saint Louis Science Center is packed with over 700 interactive exhibits, live science demonstrations, an OMNIMAX Theater, the James S. McDonnell Planetarium and more.

4. Engage history.
Site of the landmark Dred Scott slavery trials, the Old Courthouse features restored courtrooms and galleries depicting significant moments in St. Louis history. The Missouri History Museum tells the story of the St. Louis region from earliest times to the present, with a significant collection on the 1904 World’s Fair.

5. Appreciate art.
Housed in a building built as the Fine Arts Palace for the 1904 World’s Fair, the Saint Louis Art Museum houses a collection of exceptional art from nearly every culture and time period.

6. Chase thrills.
Six Flags St. Louis offers roller coasters and other thrill rides, educational programs, and performance opportunities for choir, band and dance groups. You’ll also find laser tag and a fun fusion of hockey, football, polo, basketball and bumper cars at Adrenaline Zone.

7. Take a stroll through the oldest botanical garden in the United States.
The Missouri Botanical Garden boasts 79 acres of gardens, landscape architecture, greenhouses and conservatories.
